Historical outline:
The former name: Schyrnino (Czyrna, Chirna)
The village appears for the first time in the historical documents from 1308. Probably at the turn of the XIVth and XVth cent. Jan from Czernina of the Wierzbno coat of arms erected the brick castle there. After his death the village was very often changing its hands and in the meantime obtained civic rights conferred by Vladislav II of Hungary. In the XVIIth or the XVIIIth cent. the castle was converted into a baroque palace, which in an unchanged form survived till the end of the II World War. However in January of 1945 the warfare of the Soviet Armies resulted in the destruction of the building, which has never been reconstructed.
