Historical outline:
Former name: Löwenberg
Probably the castle in Lwówek Śląski was raised by Henryk Brodaty at the beginning of the XIIIth cent. The building was supposed to be found in the north-west part of the then town and be part of its defensive fortifications. In 1381 the castle burnt down and not long after it became the private property in the form of fief. Since 1444 the castle was under the rules of town council which ordered to disassemble it after the following fire from 1475.
