Driving directions:Driving down the road no 3 from Bolków towards Zielona Góra you drive through Świny. There on the right side on the hill the castle is visible above the forest (fig. no 3). As to reach it you need to drive down the main road further and at the sharp turn of the main road on the left you need to turn right according to the indication of the signpost, to the castle. Then turn right again, up the hill and in that way you will reach the gate of the castle.
Historical outline:The former name: Schweinhausburg
Initially in Świny existed the castellan castle, which diminished in its importance in the moment of building the castle in the nearby Bolków. In the same period, that is in the years of 1245-1272 in the castle settled a wealthy family of the Świnka, which perhaps yet in the XIIIth cent., and certainly in the first half of the XIVth cent. built there the residential tower existing up to this day. In the XVth cent. keeping up with the times the Świnka family changed its surname into Schweinichen and began a systematic extension and conversion of the castle. The last large conversion took place in the 20s of the XVIIth cent., but not long after it the stronghold diminished in its importance. The castle became the property of the collateral branch, in 1769 was abandoned and completely deteriorated. The act of destruction ended the gale from 1868 and the fire from 1876. Renovation works in the 30s of the XXth cent. rescued the castle from the total destruction.
The last prewar owners of the castle were the family von Hoyos-Sprinzenstein. Later the castle was taken over by the Polish state, and actually it is the private property again.
