Driving directions:Perhaps no one should have any problems with finding Wrocław. If you enter the city from the north, down the road no 5, it is necessary to head for the center, all the time sticking to the road no 5. In the center the road no 5 will lead consecutively along the following streets: the Bałtycka, the Reymonta and the Pomorska. At the end of the Pomorska St. the road no 5 turns right into the Dubois St. At this point you need to leave the road no 5 and go straight ahead through the Pomorski bridge, and past it turn right into the Grodzka St. Subseqently drive down it along the Oder river and take the first turn to the right. This is the Cieszyńskiego St. and beside it the armory stands built in the place of the castle.
Historical outline:The castle, which existed in the place of an armory was discovered as the last of strongholds of Wrocław. The researchers were not giving credence to existence of the castle in this site for a long time, however accurate research and the subject literature made it become a rightful member of the castle family. It is assumed that its construction was begun by Henryk IV at the end of the XIIIth cent., however the stronghold was never completed. Probably in the XIVth cent. an unfinished building became the seat of commune heads, while at the end of the Middle Ages the armory was built in its place and it was completely forgotten.
