Historical outline:The former name: Ekkehardisdorf
The first reference to the village originates in 1348, when it was the property of Eberhard von Maltwitz. Since 1520 the neighboring lands became the property of von Rauecks’ family. The Rauecks, along with the village, received the palace, which came into being ‘meanwhile’. Latter fates of the palace are controversial. Allegedly it was confiscated by the emperor Ferdynand II Habsburg and was given to adjutant doctor, and then was passed to Jesuits’ hands. The estate was repurchased from the Order by Johann Georg von Götzen, who extended the palace. Since Johann von Götzen did not leave behind the male descendant, after his death the building was passed to one of his grandchildren’ hands – the count Anton Aleksander von Magnis. Under his rule the palace achieved the greatest heyday, mainly thanks to conversion from the years of 1787-1791. In 1870 the great fire consumed the building and the year later its reconstruction began. In 1945 the palace became the Treasury’s property and began to deteriorate. Refurbished in 1956 for many next years served as school. Nowadays the palace is not used.
