These are a very lovely ruins as for now. Minding, however, the fact what the same owner did with Bobolice, Mirów in a few years will presumably lose its beauty too. |
Driving directions:In the Silesian province, 20 km on the north-west off Zawiercie there is a place Żarki. Driving from this place down the road no 789 to Lelowo, after covering around 5 km you need to turn right towards Mirów. There the castle is already visible from a distance on the hill.
Historical outline:The history of the castle is not precisely known. According to the most popular theory, the castle was the part of the watchtower system built by Casimir III the Great in order to defend the west border of Poland. The first mention of the stronghold originates in 1405. through the whole XVth cent. the owners of the castle were the Koziegłowskis, after whom it belonged to the Myszkowskis, and since the middle of the XVIIth cent., to the Męcińskis. The castle became the ruin in the XVIIIth cent. and since then it has remained in that form.
