Historical outline:The former name: Penkendorf
The castle in Panków was built in the XIVth cent. probably by the family of von Banke (von Penkendorf) through the extension of an existing there before a defensive mansion. In 1405 the village together with the castle became the property of Hans von Wiltperg, and the next owners was the family of von Bock, who resided in Panków till 1650. After the fire that took place at the end of the XVIth cent. the castle was rebuilt and extended. In the Thirty Years’ War’s time the mansion was destroyed, and its reconstruction did not follow until 1699. On that occasion it was given a baroque style. In the XVIIIth cent. the building fulfilled the functions of the hunting lodge, in which the last owner of Panków, Gotthilf von Salisch, stayed during the hunting. In the XIXth cent. the castle was refurbished and was partially resided until the World War II, in the time of which it was destroyed.
