The construction of the castle in Płakowica was initiated in 1550 by Ramfald Talkenberg from Podskale. It was allegedly one of the largest XVIth-century Silesian foundations. Not much more is known on the subject of its history. In the XVIIIth and XIXth cent. its interiors were rebuilt, and the last owner was August Ludwig von Nostitz-Rieneck. From him, in 1824 the regency of Legnica repurchased the castle and established the psychiatric hospital there. While since 1992 the building belongs to the Christian Center "Elim" of the Baptist Church.
