Historical outline:
The castle was erected the most probably at the turn of the XIIIth and XIVth cent., although its first reference originates from 1356. It was then supposed to be reigned by the burgrave of Czchów – Imram. It is believed that the castle was built in order to protect the customs on the Dunajec, about which sources mention for the first time in 1327. Unfortunately the latter history of the castle is not known. In the XVIIIth cent. the stronghold was already a ruin, even though in 1767 the king Stanisław August Poniatowski’s inspectors took the possibility of its reconstruction into account. The tower and scanty fragments of walls have preserved until today.
