Driving directions:Toszek is situated in an equal distance between Strzelce Opolskie and Tarnowskie Góry. As to reach the castle it is enough to enter Toszek (e.g. down the road no 94 from Pyskowice) and follow the signposts leading to the castle.
Historical outline:The castle in Toszek was erected probably at the turn of the XIVth and XVth cent., and already in1429 was destroyed by the Hussites. The stronghold was reconstructed in the second half of the XVth cent. by the duke of Oświęcim, Przemysław. In the following century the owners of the castle were the Habsburg and Redern families. In the time of the second of the families, in 1570, the castle burnt down, which resulted in its conversion into a renaissance mansion. The next reconstruction was carried out in the years of 1650-1666 by the Colonna family, and later the consecutive owners of the castle. The end of functioning of the building was brought about by the great fire from 1811, after which the then owners abandoned the stronghold. The rebuilding of an existing till today part of the castle was held in the years of 1956-1963.
