Driving directions:
Raciążek lies 25 km south-east of Toruń. Driving from the ferry crossing in Nieszawa towards Aleksandrów Kujawski you have to turn right into the second road towards Ciechocinek (it is important not to reach the road no 1). Then drive as far as Raciążek and there drive on all the way long down the main road through the place. At certain moment you arrive in the T-shaped crossroads, at which you must turn right (the main road runs left). It will be the Zamkowa Street, along which it is enough to drive to the end, leave the car on the parking lot and go to the ruins of the castle according to the indication of the board.
Historical outline:
Originally the village, and since 1317 the town Raciążek was primarily the property of the bishops of Wrocław and remained in their hands till the end of the XVIIIth cent. In Raciążek existed the castle, which was destroyed by the Teutonic knights in the 30’s of the XIVth cent. Straight after that incident, at its place the building of the brick castle was started, which lasted till the first half of the XVIth cent. Not long after the completion of the construction, in the years of 1582-1600 the castle was rebuilt. In the second half of the XVIIth cent. the castle was destroyed, and at the end of the XVIIIth cent. it was nearly completely disassembled.
